So, you have this amazing idea and want to develop an app for the world to use. If you haven’t done any research outside of your initial idea, there are a lot of questions you’re going to need answers to help you convey your idea to a developer as the development process can be complex, depending on your requirements. Before jumping headfirst into pursuing the creationof your app, it is important to make sure that you do everything to understand as much as you can about what it will take to launch, maintain, develop, andmarket your app.

What is the purpose of your app?

In any development situation, the foundational question to focus on is always what is the purpose of the thing that you want to have developed? The answer to this question is the heart of what the project is designed and built around. Take a moment to think about what it is you are trying to accomplish by identifying the problem(s) and then answering how your app will provide the solution. Once you have a solid understanding of what issue(s) you’re solving, you will have the beginning of a solid starting point to pursue the development of an app.

Take a moment to write down a list of features that you would like for your app to have to help you solve your problem. At this point, compile as many items and possibilities as possible to lay out your ideas. Once completed brainstorming, go through the list again and make a note of what features this app cannot do without when taken live. The reason for this is that it is responsible and favorable for you to make sure that you are able to develop an MVP (minimum viable app) for the app’s first iteration. Developing with the MVP is the best option to develop from as this method acts as a pilot to show proof of concept for the app without wasting a lot of financial resources upfront.
